The 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off features four teams that played in the 2013 NCAA Tournament (Kansas State, Georgetown, Michigan and VCU), with the Wolverines going the furthest of any of those, falling in the championship game to Louisville.
While Michigan (No. 7) and VCU (No. 18) are ranked among Sporting News’ preseason Top 25, two other teams were conference champions, with Long Beach State winning the Big West and Northeastern claiming the CAA.
It almost doesn't seem fair to have the Wolverines and Rams on the same side of the bracket. A potential semifinal game between those two very well could decide the winner of this tournament.
Oklahoma State won the 2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off, beating NC State 76-56 in the title game.
