Every year, when the dust has finally settled from the chaos of March Madness, we are treated to a montage unlike any other.

"One Shining Moment" has been a tradition at the NCAA Tournament for more than three decades. It made its debut at the conclusion of the 1987 tournament and has been used ever since. Although the versions of the song have changed through the years, the original format of pairing highlights from throughout the tournament with the iconic power ballad has remained the same.

While David Barrett wrote and sang the original rendition of the song, a rendition recorded by Luther Vandross has been used more than any other and will again be used in 2023. A total of five versions of the song have been used over the years, including covers by Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo.
