The National Invitation Tournament has dwindled down to its final eight teams, including two-seeded Ohio State and four-seeded Georgia. The Bulldogs are fresh off upsetting No. 1 Wake Forest, 72-66, and are looking to do the same in Columbus against the Buckeyes.
Ohio State beat No. 3 Virginia Tech, 81-73, to add to a five-game win streak at home. They routed Cornell by five points in the first round and seem to be gaining momentum as the tournament continues.
The Bulldogs only beat Xavier in the first round by two at home, but they came back strong in their visit to Winston-Salem. Nevertheless, Georgia is slightly below .500 when it comes to playing away from Athens.
Noah Thomasson and Dylan James led Georgia against Wake Forest in scoring with 19 and 14 points, respectively. The Bulldogs shot 59 percent from the 3-point line in the first half, sinking 10 from behind the arc. Thomasson hit five threes throughout the game, and James hit four.
Ohio State's Jamison Battle led all scorers against Virginia Tech with 21 points, making it a double-double with 10 rebounds. He also hit 17 of 18 from the free-throw line. The Buckeyes had five players in double-digits and pulled out a win despite only shooting 23.5 percent from three.
