North Carolina and NC State face off today in another Tobacco Road rivalry, this time between two teams with identical records who are undefeated in ACC play.

The Tar Heels have won four consecutive games, including a 65-55 win over Clemson over the weekend. The Wolfpack are playing just as well after NC State won seven of its past eight games, including four consecutive games since Dec. 20.

Both teams are led by the senior guards – R.J. Davis and his 20.6 points per game for North Carolina and D.J. Horne with his 14.4 points per game for NC State. Despite each team's respective success, the Tar Heels have looked better lately: They've averaged 83.6 points per game this season and have won by double-digits in nine of their 11 wins. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, average 77.7 points per game and won by double figures in seven of their 11 wins.

Davis and Horne will lead the team from the point, but the game could be won in the frontcourt.

UNC center Armando Bacot averages a double-double this season with 14.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. That rebounding ranks fifth in the country. N.C. State's leading rebounder is Mohamed Diarra, who averages less than half of Bacot's total and plays just 12.4 minutes per game.

So while the two sides have identical records, UNC appears to be the superior team. That's even more evident when you dig into the advance analytics of Ken Pomeroy. The Tar Heels rank eight in adjusted efficiency, 11th in offensive efficiency and 16th in defensive efficiency. The Wolfpack meanwhile, rank 64th, 69th and 66th, respectively.

Anything can happen in the an inter-state rivalry with conference records on the line, though. NC State went toe-to-toe with Tennessee a month ago before losing to the Volunteers. North Carolina, meanwhile, lost close matchups to the likes of UConn, Kentucky and Villanova.
