North Carolina's fight to stay near the top of the ACC was dealt a fairly significant blow Saturday as the Tar Heels (18-7, 8-4 ACC) were handed their second-largest defeat of the season at Pittsburgh, 89-76.

Sheldon Jeter's 22 points paced Pitt on the afternoon, while Cameron Wright added a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Pitt started the game on a 10-0 run, and while Brice Johnson's jumper with 9:55 remaining in the first half brought North Carolina even, the Tar Heels never led in the game. The Panthers quickly took back a lead they wouldn't relinquish, leading by as much as 23 in the second half.

For Pittsburgh (17-9, 6-6 ACC), the victory was its second win over a ranked opponent this season, the first coming in January over then-No. 8 Notre Dame.

North Carolina fell to fourth place in the ACC with the loss. The Tar Heels have now lost three of their last four games.
