The outright ACC regular season championship all comes down to Duke and North Carolina.
The seventh-ranked Tar Heels (24-6, 16-3 ACC) clinched a share of the conference title for the first time since 2019 with an 84-51 beatdown of Notre Dame on Tuesday. North Carolina last won the conference outright in 2017, a season in which they went on to win the national championship.
The Tar Heels enter the game riding a five-game winning streak, buoyed by senior guard RJ Davis. Davis, averaging a career-high 21.5 points per game, dropped 22 points against the Fighting Irish and is just two games removed from a 42-point outing against Miami.
No. 7 Duke (24-6, 15-4) has looked up to North Carolina in the standings for much of the regular season. But, the Blue Devils — touting just one ACC regular season title in the last 13 seasons — can draw even with a win on Saturday, sharing the crown with the Tar Heels.
Kyle Filipowski and company have ripped off three straight dominant victories since an upset loss to Wake Forest. The sophomore center leads Duke with 16.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
Filipowski shined in the previous meeting between the two teams, back on Feb. 3 in Chapel Hill. He notched 22 points, one of three Blue Devils with 20+ points, but ultimately North Carolina prevailed, 93-84. Senior forward Armando Bacot scored a game-high 25 points, while junior forward Harrison Ingram chipped in 21 in the win.
