But some names are just better than others, even if their talent isn't.
That's why we're here: To determine the best name in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
So behold, the 2016 March Madness All-Name Team Bracket. ( Click here for full-size bracket )
How it worked:
— The best name from each team in the 2016 NCAA Tournament was selected and placed on that team's seed line.
— Rosters from the beginning of the season were used. Payers who either transferred out, were injured or left the team were not selected, which is why a player like Purdue's Basil Smotherman is not part of the field.
— The selection committee made very little effort to split up the best names, with Middle Tennessee's Giddy Potts facing Michigan State's Lourawls "TumTum" Nairn in the very first round. For shame, committee. For shame.
— We also got a Sweet 16 matchup that very well could be a Final Four tilt between Green Bay's Carrington Love and Oregon State's Tres Tinkle.
— The East region provides the funniest matchup in the tournament when Xaviers' Myles Davis (Not that Myles Davis) faces Weber State's Dusty Baker (Not that Dusty Baker).
— Fresno State and Utah have unquestionably the most boring names in the tournament. On the flip side, Dayton may have the best collection of names in the field: Scoochie Smith, Xeyrius Williams, Bobby Wherli, and Dyshawn Pierre.
— While the field was not exactly balanced, the Final Four features a world-class matchup of names between the aforemention Tres Tinkle and Maryland freshman Diamond Stone.
