The top two teams in the ACC face off tonight when N.C. State hosts Virginia Tech. The winner of this match vaults up to the No. 1 spot in the conference with postseason tournament play on the horizon.

Virginia Tech eked out a one-point win over N.C State the last time these two sides faced off on Jan. 7. The Hokies rallied from a 13-point deficit in the second half before center Elizabeth Kitley scored a game-winning lay-up with less than a second remaining to hand the Wolfpack their first loss of the year.

N.C. State is 6-1 since that loss, including a five-game conference winning streak. Virginia Tech is 5-2 over that same stretch but won its past five games, including an overtime win over ACC rival North Carolina on Sunday.

The Wolfpack are led by guards Aziaha James (15.8 points per game) and Saniya Rivers (12.5 points per game). James also averages 4.5 rebounds per game, while Rivers averages 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Kitley remains the main woman for the Hokies with 22.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per game – production that ranks 11th and seventh in the country this year, respectively. Guard Georgia Amoore is the backcourt leader with 17.7 points and 7.6 assists per game.

Both sides are about even on either side of the ball. N.C. State scores 77.0 points per game and allows 59.4 points per game, while Virginia Tech averages 77.7 points per game and allows 60.0 points per game.
