The madness has finally come, and although the first day of the 2019 NCAA Tournament was not ripe with upsets, a handful of spectacular individual performances did not disappoint.

Ja Morant stole the show on Day 1, as the likely NBA lottery pick became just the ninth player, and the first since Draymond Green in 2012, to record a triple-double as his 12-seed Murray State team pulled off the largest upset of the day in defeating 5-seed Marquette.

No situation proved too awkward for 10-seed Minnesota coach Richard Pitino as he was able to guide the Gophers past Louisville, the school his father is currently suing, in the first game of the day. March Madness almost proved its moniker just minutes later as Auburn nearly blew a 13-point second half lead to 12-seed New Mexico State, but held on to win when the Aggies missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Wofford and sharpshooter Fletcher Magee helped bring the night to a close in record-setting fashion. Magee hit seven 3-pointers to become the all-time leader in made 3s with over 505 in his career. The Terriers defeated Seton Hall to advance to play No. 2 Kentucky on Saturday.
