NCAA Tournament results, highlights from today's games

(12) Grand Canyon vs. (5) Saint Mary's

1:22 a.m.: The Lopes never relinquished the led in the second half en route to a 75-66 win, making them the second No. 12 seed of the tournament — and of the night — to advance to the round of 32. Grand Canyon joins James Madison in upsetting a No. 5 seed in 2024.

12:40 a.m.: Grand Canyon is taking it to Saint Mary's. A 22-8 run to start the second half has the Lopes out in front of the Gaels 51-35 with 11 minutes to go.

(9) TCU vs. (8) Utah State

12:45 a.m.: Utah State pulled away from TCU in the second half, defeating TCU 88-72. Transfer guard Ian Martinez was the game's leading scorer with 21 points.

(12) James Madison vs. (5) Wisconsin

12:30 a.m.: Finally, a 5-over-12 upset! James Madison didn't look like the underdog in this one, ripping off a wire-to-wire victory over Wisconsin, 72-61.

(1) Houston vs. (16) Longwood

12:10 a.m.: It was never a doubt for Houston, who jumped out to an early lead and never surrendered it. The Cougars led by as much as 42 points and came away with an 86-46 victory.

(4) Alabama vs. (13) Charleston

9:40 p.m.: The Crimson Tide did not mess around. After Charleston got out to an early lead, it was been all Alabama. Mark Sears' 30 points led the Tide to a commanding 109-96 win.

(1) Purdue vs. (16) Grambling State

9:35 p.m.: Credit to Grambling State for sticking around in the first half, but Zach Edey is just too big. It was a masterful performance from the All-American who finished with 30 points and 21 rebounds in a 78-50 win.

(13) Vermont vs. (4) Duke

9:15 p.m.: Duke's defense continued to buckle down as the Blue Devils held Vermont to just 18 points in the second half. Duke came away with a 64-47 win behind 15 points apiece from Jared McCain and Mark Mitchell.

MORE: Duke quiets Vermont to advance to Round of 32

8:10 p.m.: Duke's taking a 34-29 lead into the halftime break. It would have been a seven-point lead if it weren't for this acrobatic finish from Aaron Deloney, who scored 11 points in the first half.

(9) Texas A&M vs. (8) Nebraska

9:15 p.m.: Texas A&M won this one with little resistance from Nebraska. The Aggies defeated the Cornhuskers 98-83 as Wade Taylor IV's 25 points powered A&M to victory.

8 p.m.: There's been a lot of scoring through one half in this one.

Nebraska has gotten out to a hot start with 44 points … but Texas A&M has 58 first-half points thanks to 19 points from Manny Obaseki and 17 points from Wade Taylor IV.

(10) Colorado 102, (7) Florida 100

7 p.m.: This is what March is all about.

With the aid of a soft touch from the rim, KJ Simpson caps off a 23-point performance with the game-winning shot to push Colorado to the Round of 32. The Buffaloes come out on top in a high-scoring affair.

5:30 p.m.: Some good basketball is being played in Indianapolis.

The Buffaloes and Gators go into the halftime break the same way they started the game — tied up. Colorado benefits from a big shot from KJ Simpson before the buzzer.

(13) Yale 78, (4) Auburn 76

7:05 p.m.: Upset city!

Yale takes advantage of Auburn's mistakes down the stretch. Yale left the door open but was able to get a crucial stop to pull off the upset. It's the program's second tournament upset and the Ivy League's second consecutive year of advancing past the first round.

5 p.m.: There were early fireworks in this one, as Auburn forward Chad Baker-Mazara was ejected minutes into the game after an elbow that was deemed an excessive flagrant foul.

MORE: Explaining why Chad Baker-Mazara was ejected vs. Yale

The Ivy League champions will look to get an edge on the SEC champions, who are now without their third-leading scorer.

(6) Clemson 77, (11) New Mexico 56

5:30 p.m.: The Tigers are headed to the Round of 32.

It was an all-around effort from Clemson, which led by as many as 23 points en route to a 21-point win over New Mexico.

Clemson held the Lobos to 29.2 percent shooting from the field and an icy 3 of 23 from 3-point range. The Tigers' offensive attack was paced by 21 points and six assists from senior Chase Hunter while the frontcourt duo of PJ Hall and Ian Schifflein combined for 30 points and 15 rebounds.

4:10 p.m.: Clemson's here to make a statement, leading by as many as 19 points in a game that its been in control.

Clemson big man PJ Hall has 12 points in a half of play while five other players have six points. For New Mexico, Jaelen House has eight points but is 2 of 9 from the field.

As a team, the Lobos are shooting 12 of 35 while Clemson is 15 of 31 from the field and 4 of 9 from deep.

(1) UConn 91, (16) Stetson 52

5:22 p.m.: It was all UConn in this one as the defending champions earned a dominant 39-point win over the ASUN Champions.

All five of Connecticut's starters finished in double figures but it was 7-2 big man Donovan Clingan that set the toe with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

UConn will move on to face Northwestern on Sunday.

4:15 p.m.: It's been a lot of UConn and not much else through the first half.

The defending national champs take a 52-19 lead into halftime thanks to the play of Cam Spencer, who has 13 points, three rebounds and three assists while Donovan Clingan has 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Tristen Newton has six points, five assists and two rebounds for the Huskies.

Stetson is shooting 8 of 26 from the field while UConn is 22 of 32. That's the difference.

(2) Marquette 87, (15) Western Kentucky 69

4:10 p.m.: No upset this time.

Marquette comes alive in the second half to outscore Western Kentucky 51-26 and earn an 18-point win. In Tyler Kolek's first game since late February, he finished with 18 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

Marquette's Cam Jones canned five triples and finished with 28 points to lead all scorers.

3:18 p.m.: Upset alert?

Western Kentucky takes a seven-point lead over Marquette into the half. The Hilltoppers are looking to become the 12th team to pull off a 15-2 upset in the NCAA Tournament.

(5) San Diego State 69, (12) UAB 65

3:49 p.m.: This one's coming down to the wire.

After a run to last year's national title game, San Diego State leads by two points with 2:39 remaining in regulation.

UAB will look to make one more run to pull off the upset.

3:30 p.m.: The Blazers and Aztecs are going back and forth in Spokane, Wash.

A 9-0 run from UAB ties things up at 49 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. This one could come down to the wire.

4 p.m.: The game did come down to the wire but San Diego State made a few more plays to earn the win.

Jaedon LeDee did it all for the Aztecs, finishing with 32 points (on 11-of-18 shooting), eight rebounds a block and a steal. Last year's national runner-up survives to play another day.

(3) Baylor 92, (14) Colgate 67

3 p.m.: Another day at the office for Baylor, which cruised to a 25-point win to open the tournament.

Freshman Ja'Kobe Walter showed off his NBA potential with 19 points and four rebounds in 34 minutes of action but it was Jalen Bridges that led all scorers with 23 points and five boards thanks in large part to 5-of-8 shooting from 3-point range.

As a team, Baylor shot 16 of 30 (53.3 percent) from beyond the arc.

(9) Northwestern 77, (8) Florida Atlantic 63 (OT)

2:50 p.m.:  After a wild finish to regulation, Northwestern outscored Florida Atlantic 19-7 in the overtime period to advance to the second round with a 14-point win.

Ryan Langborg's 27 points led the way for the Wildcats while Boo Buie added 22 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds.
