A barrier-breaking title: The 1961-62 Cincinnati Bearcats made history when they started four black players in their NCAA title game win over Ohio State. We remember the importance of that groundbreaking win.

NCAA bracket: Region previews

If simple picks aren't your cup of tea, Mike DeCourcy has gone ahead and broken down all four of the bracket's regions for some in-depth analysis of the best storylines, most likely upsets and more. We've also got stats and sleepers that could decide each region.

East Region: Upset predictions, Final Four pick | Stats, upsets, sleepers that will decide the East Region

This is Zion’s region. Do we even need to say his last name? Perhaps to meet proper journalistic standards we should note his full name is Zion Williamson, that he is a forward at Duke playing in his first NCAA Tournament, that he is 6-7, 285 pounds and was named the Sporting News Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. But you probably know all of this.

Midwest Region: Upset predictions, Final Four pick | Stats, upsets, sleepers that will decide the Midwest Region

Can Kansas turn a Midwest Region in Kansas City into a hometown happening? (For that matter, did the Jayhawks really earn the opportunity?) KU is seeded No. 4, which means the committee has projected the Jayhawks to make it to KC for a potential Sweet 16 game against No. 1 seed North Carolina.

South Region: Upset predictions, Final Four pick | Stats, upsets, sleepers that will decide the South Region

Can Virginia recover from the lingering UMBC nightmare to reach its first Final Four under coach Tony Bennett — and its first in 35 years? The Cavaliers have been subtly punished through much of this season for becoming the first No. 1 seed ever to lose to a No. 16, when they were manhandled by the UMBC Retrievers in one of the last of 2018’s first-round games.

West Region: Upset predictions, Final Four pick | Stats, upsets, sleepers that will decide the West Region

In a region that will present excellent teams but no one frightening until possibly Gonzaga in the region final, could No. 6 seed Buffalo make a serious run? As usual, there is weakness in the West Region because of the committee’s indefensible aversion to asking teams to travel.
