LSU will look to play spoiler on Thursday when the Tigers take on undefeated South Carolina for control of the SEC.

The Tigers rebounded after a close loss to Auburn on Jan. 14, winning their past two games over conference opponents. Forward Angel Reese was a big part of those wins, posting her third and fourth consecutive double-doubles. She ranks third in the country in rebounds per game (12.1).

But LSU sits second in the conference standings behind the Gamecocks, who are a perfect 17-0. South Carolina has the largest scoring margin in the nation at 38.6 points. Reese will contend with Gamecocks center Kamilla Cardoso, who is averaging 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game this season.

Defense could be the deciding factor in this game. Both sides score in bunches — LSU leads the nation with 91.6 points per game, and South Carolina ranks fourth at 90.8 points per game.

However, the Gamecocks hold a sizable advantage when it comes to limiting their opponents. South Carolina allows just 52.1 points per game, while the Tigers allow 61.4 points per game.

Rebounding is another crucial area to monitor. The Gamecocks lead the nation in defensive rebounds per game (35.0), and the Tigers rank fifth in offensive rebounds per game (17.2).

Guards will be important, but the battles in the paint could decide this one.
