A former Indiana high school basketball coach was arrested Thursday on a federal charge related to an alleged exchange of explicit messages with a 15-year-old female student.

Kyle Cox, who coached at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis — which produced Indiana standout Yogi Ferrell and Xavier star Trevon Bluiett — was charged with one count of coercion and enticement, the Indianapolis Star reported. The FBI and the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force carried out the arrest.

According to a criminal complaint unsealed at an initial hearing Thursday, Cox tried to convince the girl to meet him at the school to engage in sexual activity while his wife and children were out of town.

Cox, 31, resigned from Park Tudor on Dec. 15, the day after the girl's father met with school administrators upon discovering the explicit content.

Court documents said Cox began communicating with the student last September, and the two exchanged explicit photos and videos electronically. The documents also contained allegations Cox threatened the student in an attempt to prevent her from telling authorities. He allegedly told her in a text message, "I swear if you ever say something."

The Star reported that Cox was taken into federal custody after the hearing. A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Monday.

Cox led Park Tudor to state championships in 2014 and 2015 after being promoted from his assistant coach's position in 2013.
