LSU Tigers, led by Coach Kim Mulkey, faced criticism for their absence from the court during the national anthem before their Elite Eight game against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday night.

The absence of the Tigers became a focal point of conversation on social media, where fans expressed their disapproval.

Following LSU's loss to Iowa, which propelled Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes to the Final Four, Mulkey faced questions about her team's absence in the postgame press conference.

Mulkey explained that it was not intentional and it was part of their team's routine.

"Honestly I don't even know when the anthem was played," said Mulkey. "We have a routine where the team comes off the court at the 12-minute mark and we do our pre-game stuff."
