Two teams confronting the realities of the Big 12 conference will meet when Kansas hosts Cincinnati for a Monday night clash.

The rigors of the Big 12 have caught up to the Jayhawks, who entered conference play on an eight-game winning streak with marquee wins over Connecticut, Kentucky and Tennessee. But Kansas has suffered two stunning upsets in its last four games, most recently a 91-85 loss to West Virginia on Saturday, a game in which the Mountaineers shot 57% from beyond the arc.
Kansas still touts plenty of firepower. Hunter Dickinson averages a double-double (19.3 points and 11.3 rebounds) while Kevin McCullar Jr. notches 20 points per game. But the road to Bill Self’s 18th regular-season conference championship is arduous.
Cincinnati, on the other hand, is playing in its first year in the Big 12. The Bearcats have dropped three of their last four games with all three losses coming by four points or less. In Saturday’s 69-65 loss to Oklahoma, Cincinnati shot just 38% from the floor, 27% from distance and 64% from the free-throw line.
Five different Bearcats average over nine points per game. Center Viktor Lakhin leads the balanced attack, averaging 13 points per game as well as 7.5 rebounds.
