After falling in the championship game last year to LSU, Clark and the Hawkeyes enter this year’s NCAA Tournament with redemption in mind. And all eyes will surely be on Iowa (29-4) and Clark, the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history, as her career winds to a close.
Clark was sensational in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, averaging 31.8 points per game across six contests. What can she do for an encore?
We will begin to find out this week, as the Hawkeyes — a No. 1 seed — open up play against either No. 16 Holy Cross or No. 16 UT Martin.
The Crusaders (20-12) are making their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Patriot League. UT Martin (16-16), meanwhile, fell in the Ohio Valley Conference championship to Southern Indiana, but still captured the auto bid as Southern Indiana transitions to Division I and is thus ineligible.
The two teams will duel in the First Four for a chance to play the Hawkeyes.
