The 2024 women's national championship game is set. The No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes will face off against the overall No. 1 seed South Carolina Gamecocks in the tournament's final matchup.
The Gamecocks dominated No. 3 NC State in the Final Four, with Kamilla Cardoso leading all scorers with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ashlyn Watkins owned the boards, as well, with 20 rebounds of her own on top of eight points in the 78-59 win.
Iowa was taken down to the wire by No. 3 UConn, beating the Huskies by a slim, 71-69 score. Hannah Stuelke led all scorers with 23 points, and Caitlin Clark finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the hard-fought victory.
Iowa was in this position last year, when they lost to LSU in the championship game, and South Carolina won the tournament in 2022. The two teams have met twice, the series tied at 1-1.
They last played in last year's Final Four, where Iowa took home the win, 77-73, behind 41 points from Clark. South Carolina sports an entirely new starting lineup since that matchup, and the stakes are even higher this time around.
