Iowa can't win the Big Ten regular season title or earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament today, but that doesn't mean the Hawkeyes matchup with Ohio State isn't important.
Star guard Caitlin Clark needs just 15 points to move into second place in the NCAA all-time scoring record book and needs just 18 points to pass Pete Maravich for the No. 1 spot (men's or women's). She scored 33 points in the Hawkeyes win over Minnesota.
The Hawkeyes would remain the No. 2 seed in the conference with a win as well. The Buckeyes wrapped up the No. 1 seed after they dispatched Michigan on Wednesday.
Ohio State is one of the best team's in the country. The Buckeyes rank 16th in scoring with 80.4 points per game and are on a 15-game wining streak dating back to Dec. 30. They're only loses on the season are to USC, UCLA and Michigan.
Iowa, meanwhile, lost to Ohio State in a 100-92 overtime thriller on Jan. 21. The Hawkeyes have also lost two of their past five games after they won nine of their first 10 games to start the 2024 calendar year.
Jacy Sheldon leads the Buckeyes with 18.0 points, while Cotie McMahon averages 6.5 rebounds and 14.3 points per game. Clark leads the Hawkeyes in points (32.2), rebounds (7.4), assists (8.7) and steals (1.7) while Iowa averages a nation-leading 92.7 points per game.
