The Duke Blue Devils look to inch closer to the top of the ACC but will need a win over the Clemson Tigers first. Duke sits third in conference at 5-2 while Clemson is 10th in the ACC at 3-4.
Duke won eight consecutive from Dec. 9-Jan. 13, including four conference wins, before losing to Pittsburgh a week ago. The Blue Devils got back on track this week, though, when they decimated Louisville, 83-69.
Clemson, meanwhile, faltered early against ACC opponents after the Tigers lost three consecutive games to open 2024 and then fell to Georgia Tech in double overtime this on Jan. 16. They beat Florida State this past Saturday to get back on track with the second half of the conference schedule left before postseason tournament play.
Four players average double-digit points for Duke, led by center Kyle Filipowski who scores 18.2 points per game and grabs 9.0 rebounds per game. The Blue Devils backcourt duo of Jeremy Roach and Tyrese Proctor manage the top of the key with 14.4 points and 10.7 points per game, respectively. Roach adds a team-high 1.5 steals while Proctor leads the team with 3.9 assists.
Clemson is also led by its frontcourt with center P.J. Hall. He averages 19.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Forward Ian Schieffelin leads the team in rebounds, though, with 9.6 per game. Joe Girard, a transfer from Syracuse, averages 14.9 points per game and 3.4 assists per game.
Neither team stands out on offense or defense, but Duke's efficiency vastly outpaces Clemson's. The Blue Devils rank 13th in adjusted efficiency, per KenPom, with the ninth-best offense. The Tigers rank 33rd with the 13th-best offense. Defensively, both Duke and Clemson sit outside the top-25. We could be in for a shootout in Durham.
