There it is. Introducing the new NCAA women's basketball scoring leader: Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark.

With her eighth point against Michigan, which came just two minutes into Thursday's 106-89 win, Clark passed Aces guard and former Washington great Kelsey Plum to become the all-time points leader in NCAA women's basketball.

The Hawkeyes' senior guard finished with a career-high 49 points and with 3,569 points and counting.

And she's not done. Clark and the Hawkeyes have four more regular season games remaining, as well as the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments. She'll continue to raise the record number each time she steps on the court, and soon she should pass Pete Maravich's record and become the overall NCAA scoring leader.

The record was a long time coming for Clark. After the first few games of the season, she was already on track to break Plum's record. She came up just short Sunday against Nebraska, scoring (only) 31 points.

All for the best: Clark instead received the chance to celebrate her accomplishment at home with the Iowa faithful at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

"Caitlin's special," Warriors star Steph Curry told ESPN of Clark's record. "The record speaks for itself, and it's cool. From a scoring perspective, from a shooting perspective, just doing what she's doing -- she could pick anybody that she talks about in terms of being an inspiration. If she models something of her game after me, I don't take that for granted."

More athletes and fans lauded Clark on social media for her milestone performance — including WNBA legend Sue Bird, who poked fun at Plum for congratulating Clark one game early.
