No. 20 BYU earned an at-large bid and the No. 6 seed in the East region of the NCAA Tournament and will play No. 11 Duquesne in the Round of 64 on Thursday, March 11 in Omaha, Neb.

The winner of this game will play a second-round matchup Saturday against the winner of No. 3 Illinois and No. 14 Morehead State.

BYU is led by Jaxson Robinson, who was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year. The senior picked up All-Big 12 honorable mention accolades alongside teammates Dallin Hall, Fousseyni Traore and Spencer Johnson.

Robinson became the second Cougar in program history and first since Jonathan Tavernari in 2009-10 to be named a league’s top reserve. He is averaging 13.9 points per game and is on pace to become the first reserve to lead a BYU team in scoring in the modern era of college basketball.

The matchup between BYU and Duquesne will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs and first since Dec. 28, 1953. The Dukes won the A-10 tournament Sunday to get its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 47 years.

BYU is 15-33 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including a 3-2 record as a sixth seed.

Duquesne is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1977, earning an automatic bid after winning the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship with a 57-51 win over VCU on Sunday at the Barclays Center.

Senior guard Dae Dae Grant was named the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Player after scoring 10 points in the title game against the Rams. He averaged 16.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 42.6 percent (23-for-54) from the floor in four games of the championship.
