Buddy Hield deserves every ounce of praise he gets. But he'll forever owe bettors who backed Oklahoma on Thursday night, while those who played Iowa State will forever be in debt to him. Here's why.
The Sooners were 4- or 4.5-point favorites against Iowa State in the Big 12 Tournament, and Hield had the ball inside 10 seconds to play. Oklahoma led by six, 79-73. As he got pressured (and fouled, he thought), Hield took a few steps with the ball in his hands and was whistled for a travel.

Iowa State's Deonte Burton then took the inbound with 2.8 seconds left and Oklahoma didn't disrupt his path to the basket in any way. He launched a long three and hit it, so the Cyclones covered in a three-point loss.
