CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte 49ers announced that men's basketball coach Alan Major has returned to work following a medical leave of absence.
Major took a leave of absence in May to have surgery on his heart and both eyes.
The 46-year-old Major said Monday in a press release issued by the school that he's "very thankful to God to be back with the team."
Major is entering his fifth season at the helm of the 49ers program. Charlotte averaged 19 wins over the last two seasons and returns 12 players — including four starters — from last season.
Athletic director Judy Rose says in the release that the 49ers are "thrilled to have Coach Major back. He is healthy and more than ready to lead our program."
