Alabama's first opponent of March Madness is set.

The Crimson Tide will take on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Thursday afternoon in their first game of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. With many picking Alabama to win it all this year, it will be the first obstacle for head coach Nate Oats and his team to overcome.

The Islanders advanced into the first round after taking down Southeast Missouri State, 75-71, in the First Four on Tuesday night. It wasn't always pretty, but they got the job done thanks in large part to going 27 of 35 from the free throw line. Their reward was a matchup with the No. 1 overall seed in this year's tournament.

To make Texas A&M-CC's task even more difficult, the game will take place just down the road from the Crimson Tide's home arena in Birmingham, Ala. The Islanders will have to make the trip down from Dayton, Ohio, on short rest to play arguably the nation's top team in their home state.

Can Texas A&M-CC pull off the impossible? Or will Alabama take the first step towards its ultimate goal?

Here's how you can tune into the first round March Madness matchup this Thursday:
