Who is AJ Dybantsa?

Dybantsa was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on Jan. 29, 2007.

As a freshman, Dybantsa led Saint Sebastian's School to a 26-2 record with averages of 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. Those numbers helped him earn Gatorade's Player of the Year award in Massachusetts for Boys Basketball.

The Boston Globe recently wrote that Dybantsa is the "most hyped high school prospect produced in these parts since Patrick Ewing." He is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in the 2026 high school class and has already received offers from eight colleges: Alabama, Boston College, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Providence, UConn and Washington.

Dybantsa has transferred to Prolific Prep in Napa, California for his sophomore year. He will team up with Tyran Stokes, the No. 2 prospect in 2026.

Dybantsa is listed as a 6-7, 185-pound small forward. On3 describes him as a "bouncy athlete" with a "smooth jump shot" who has the "upside to be very good when he is locked in on the defensive end."

"He has the foundation of all the tools," writes On3. "It will simply be about continuing to get stronger and developing the vast skill base."

Dybantsa flashed some of his potential in his Drew League debut with 20 points and four steals.

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and Paul George are among the NBA players Dybantsa has worked out with ahead of his sophomore season.

According to The New York Times, Dybantsa has been in Los Angeles with his father to meet with agents, including Klutch Sports, which represents James.
