The Washington Wizards are in position to land one of the most talented prospects in the NBA Draft with the No. 2 pick, but fans may not have to wait until Wednesday to know the player at hand.
7-foot-1 phenom Alex Sarr is a near lock to go off the board to Washington, as he declined a private workout with the Atlanta Hawks, who are drafting at No. 1. Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer recently reported on the interest from Sarr and his team.
"Washington, picking No. 2, has been labeled by league personnel as the Sarr camp’s preferred destination," Fischer wrote. "As the Wizards are in the beginning stages of a long rebuild with no clear-cut franchise cornerstone."
Along with high praise for the Wizards, Sarr did note to Yahoo Sports, "I’ll play for any team that drafts me," meaning Atlanta is not entirely out of the equation. It seems the most probable route that Sarr is not wearing a Wizards uniform next season is through the Hawks moving out of the top selection. The San Antonio Spurs are rumored to have interest in moving into the top-3 picks.
