The Sacramento Kings began the offseason with a blockbuster move bringing in Chicago Bulls' star DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade deal.
As of recently, the Kings have been one of the most active teams as they look to add quality depth with their final roster spots.
Sacramento enters the season with the hopes of contending for a championship. As the team continues to evaluate their options, they’ve held several workouts with available free agents including this former lottery pick.
“The Kings are working out T.J. Warren this week,” The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported on Monday. “The 31-year-old who averaged a career-high 19.8 points for the Pacers in 2019-20 last played with Minnesota last season.”
Warren was selected with the last pick in the lottery of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. The North Carolina State star entered the league with high expectations but injury woes got in the way of his potential.
The forward made a career for himself by being an explosive scorer shooting 50.5% from field goal range and 35.1% from three throughout his time in the league.
Through nine seasons in the league, the 31-year-old has played with four different teams.
If Warren can prove that he’s put his injuries behind him, he could be an interesting addition for the Kings who desperately need bench scoring.
