Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams is a potential trade candidate, per Brian Windhorst. Williams was a key piece on the Celtics teams that made it to the 2022 NBA Finals and the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals. This also comes after Portland putting their star center, Deandre Ayton, on the trading block as well last month.

“A guy to watch who is very tradable is ‘The Time Lord,’ one of the great nicknames in the whole NBA, Robert Williams,’ said Windhorst. “Coming back off injury, obviously, he’s a guy who’s had repeated injury problems, but he makes $13 million. They may be willing to part with him, and he could go to a contender and be a significant piece if he is healthy.”

Last season, Williams averaged almost seven points, six rebounds, almost one assist, one block, and one steal per game. His value doesn’t really come from the offensive side of the ball, where he is a lob threat, but his defensive presence.

While only standing 6’9, Williams defends some of the best big men in the league, and he is fairly good at it. Like Windhorst said, he has a smaller contract for his value, so if Portland is willing to part with him for some picks, any playoff contender that wants a good defensive big man who is a bit of a lob threat should pounce on him.
