The Philadelphia 76ers are going all in to win an NBA championship next season by paying veteran star Paul George a maximum contract.
It's clear their expectations are championship-or-bust, especially in the eyes of retired guard Brandon Jennings. The No. 10 pick in the 2009 draft went off on Philadelphia's front office, claiming they paid George his four-year, $212 million deal as a third option.
“Y'all gave him [$212 million] to be the third option? Philly better win the championship this year," Jennings exclaimed on the 'Gils Arena' podcast. "They better win the championship this year. I don't want to hear [expletive]."

While the Sixers are undoubtedly among the top teams in the Eastern Conference, it's a tough road to reach the NBA Finals. They will have to face one or both of the reigning champion Boston Celtics and the star-studded New York Knicks. George was not Philadelphia's lone offseason acquisition, as they brought in big man Andre Drummond, veteran Eric Gordon, and forward Caleb Martin. They also retained Kyle Lowry and Kelly Oubre Jr., who were unrestricted free agents.
Jennings has no connection to the 76ers, meaning he's not eager to be proven wrong. Instead, he's likely rooting for his former Milwaukee Bucks, whom Joel Embiid and company are looking to take down on their road to a title.
