It's strange to imagine the Philadelphia 76ers having serious competition to retain veteran Kyle Lowry, but the Phoenix Suns are causing just that.
Suns reporter Gerald Bourguet recently shared, "Kyle Lowry is still in play and the two sides are still talking, but he may wind up back in Philly."

Suns are still working on re-signing Josh Okogie. A few teams want him, but PHX is confident they'll be able to keep him. Kyle Lowry is still in play and the two sides are still talking, but he may wind up back in Philly
It's hard to imagine Lowry leaving his hometown of Philadelphia, especially when considering their circumstances compared to the Suns'. The Sixers appear ready to compete for a championship after making the biggest splash of the summer by acquiring star Paul George while Phoenix intends to run it back with their Big Three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
The only logical reason the six-time All-Star would decide to sign with the Suns is for a wealthier contract. Considering the Sixers are looking to keep themselves under the first apron, the front office will likely offer Lowry a veteran's minimum. Meanwhile, the Suns have one of the biggest payrolls in the NBA, meaning going further over the luxury tax is not in their best interest.
