If there is an area of weakness to point out in the Philadelphia 76ers' new-look roster, it's size and athleticism in the forward room.
This is not a hidden hole in the lineup, as Paul George and Caleb Martin are proven contributors who lack to an extent in these departments. Bleacher Report is predicting the Sixers' front office could target Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason to solve these problems.
B/R's Grant Hughes pointed out their haul of new players did not wipe out their assets, leaving the 23-year-old as a realistic trade target.
"That'll put intriguing names in play, including Eason, a defensive ace the Rockets could part with as they try to figure out how to pay their other 19 (only a slight exaggeration) recent draftees," Hughes wrote. "Throw him out there with Philly's star trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey, and the 23-year-old would add tremendous grit and defensive energy to the mix."
Eason dealt with injuries last season, appearing in just 22 games. He did, however, show promise in his limited time on the floor, averaging 9.8 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals on 46.6% shooting. The former LSU Tiger can contribute all over the court, making him the perfect compliment to the championship-contending 76ers.
If Philadelphia is willing to part with even more of their future and the Rockets come to realize they can't pay their entire roster, targeting Eason at the deadline feels like a no-brainer.
