The Australian Boomers roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics is missing a familiar face in former Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle.

The 12-man group is highlighted by established NBA talent including Josh Giddey, Dyson Daniels, and Josh Green, but Thybulle reportedly didn't make the cut. The 27-year-old spent the last one and a half seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 5.9 points and 1.7 steals on 41% shooting from the field and 35.8% from 3-point range. The final roster must be ratified by the Australian Olympic Committee, with an official announcement scheduled for Sunday, according to ESPN.

Thybulle's most desirable asset by far is his lockdown defense, especially on the perimeter. While Daniels is another of the league's top backcourt defenders, there's no denying additional defense could have been beneficial. During his time in Philadelphia, Thybulle was often marked on the opponent's No. 1 option.

Australia was drawn into Group A for the Olympics, alongside Canada and two teams that are battling for qualification, with their first game set for July 27.
