The Oklahoma City Thunder are not far from making an NBA Finals run, earning the West’s top seed with one of the youngest rosters last season.

One department in need of help is frontcourt depth, as rising star Chet Holmgren often found himself on an island in the paint. It seems general manager Sam Presti may have the perfect solution once again, as the team is reportedly monitoring Atlanta Hawks big man Clint Capela.

“NBA executives are monitoring Clint Capela as a trade candidate for several teams needing a veteran center, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans,” HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto wrote.

Capela is a force on both ends of the floor at 6-foot-10, averaging 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks on 57.1% shooting last season. He would alleviate some pressure off of Holmgren, who played all 82 games, averaging nearly 30 minutes in his first year back from injury. The Thunder have a plethora of assets to acquire players of all calibers, most recently trading for guard Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls.
