NBA Insider believes Jazz should trade for Thunder’s Josh Giddey image

It's no secret that the Oklahoma City Thunder may shop wing Josh Giddey due to a poor showing in the NBA playoffs.

Giddey averaged a career-low 12.3 points in the regular season, followed by an underwhelming 8.7 points on 45.3% shooting in the postseason. The disappointing third year is leading NBA Insider Bobby Marks to take an interest in the 21-year-old potentially joining the Utah Jazz.

The full trade details are as follows:

Thunder receive:

2024 Jazz first-round pick (No. 10)

2025 Minnesota Timberwolves first-round pick (top-14 protected)

Jazz receive:

Josh Giddey

The deal makes sense for both organizations as the Thunder acquire yet another top-10 draft pick while the Jazz can pair Giddey alongside All-Rookie Second Team guard Keyonte George. The Thunder should not love the idea of their roster growing even younger, but the upside of prospects such as Ron Holland II, Nikola Topic, or Rob Dillingham could sway them to trade the former No. 6 pick.

The Jazz need to consider moving on from forward Lauri Markkanen, whose value is likely the highest it will ever hold. Numerous championship contenders would pick up the phone at a moment's notice if Markkanen was made available.

The return package for the one-time All-Star would allow Utah to begin a new era centered around George, Giddey, Walker Kessler, and draft picks.
