Get your calendars out. It's almost that time again.
On Tuesday, Aug. 15, the schedule for the NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament was revealed. Later in the same week, the full schedule for the entire 2023-24 season is set to be released.
The NBA season will be here before you know it. Following a busy offseason, a number of NBA players are currently preparing for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. They will then join their NBA teammates for training camp at the end of September and the beginning of October.
Opening night for the 2023-24 season is Oct. 24, 2023.

When will the NBA schedule be released?
The NBA's schedule for the 2023-24 season will be released on Thursday, Aug. 17.
For reference, the complete schedule for the 2022-23 season was released by the NBA on Aug. 17, 2022. It was revealed around the same time (Aug. 20, 2021) the previous season. The schedule for the 2020-21 season was shared much later in the year (Dec. 4, 2020), but that's because the season started in late December because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While we don't know each team's full schedule for the upcoming season, the NBA has shared some key dates:
- Sept. 30: Training camp opens for teams participating in preseason games outside of North America
- Oct. 3: Training camp opens for remaining teams
- Oct. 5: Start of preseason
- Oct. 20: End of preseason
- Oct. 24: Start of 2023-24 regular season
- Nov. 3: NBA In-Season Tournament begins
- Dec. 7: NBA In-Season Tournament Semifinals
- Dec. 9: NBA In-Season Tournament Finals
- Feb. 16-18: NBA All-Star Weekend 2024
- April 14: 2023-24 regular season ends
According to those dates, the 2023-24 season will start six days later and end five days later than last season.
