Warriors vs. Trail Blazers results: Golden State sweeps Portland to reach fifth straight to NBA Finals image

Rinse, wash, repeat. There won't be a new representative from the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. Golden State defeated Portland 119-117 in overtime of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals using the familiar formula of yet another double-digit, second-half comeback on the back of Steph Curry.

The Warriors trailed by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. Curry played all 29 minutes after the half on his way to scoring 37 points with 11 assists and 13 rebounds, his fourth straight game with at least 35 points. Curry was joined in triple-double status by Draymond Green and his 18 points, 11 assists and 14 boards. They were the first pair of teammates in NBA history to have triple-doubles in a postseason game. If there was a negative to extract from Curry's game, his record streak of 81 consecutive made free throws in postseason fourth quarters or overtimes — dating back to 2015 — finally came to an end.

Portland's season was ended in a night in which Meyers Leonard stole the show. His 25 first-half points were more points than he had ever scored in a single game in college or the NBA. His 40 minutes were more than he played in the entire seven game series against Denver. Leonard finished with a team-high 30 points. Portland shot an efficient 61 percent from the floor in the first half, but began just 3-of-13 in the third quarter, allowing for the Warriors to come back.

Golden State is just the second team in NBA history (Boston Celtics, 1959-66) to ever play in five consecutive NBA Finals. While Curry logged a lot of minutes in Game 4, he has nine days to rest until the finals begin on May 30. The Warriors were 0-2 against Toronto in the regular season and 1-1 against Milwaukee, but haven't played either team since mid-December.
