The Golden State Warriors came out and made a statement in their Game 1 demolition of the Dallas Mavericks.
Interestingly, Golden State did the most damage on the defensive end of the floor while holding Luka Doncic to just 20 points on 6-of-18 shooting. The Warriors contested everything, with Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green doing the most damage on Doncic.
According to ESPN, Golden State held Doncic to just 16.7 percent shooting on contested field-goal attempts, a career playoff low for the Slovenian.
Steve Kerr will be aware that holding a player of Doncic's quality to those numbers again will be a tough task, but the Warriors will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead in this series.
For the Mavericks, Jason Kidd will have some adjustments to make on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he'll need to figure out a way to break through the Dubs' defense and get into the paint. In Game 1, they attempted 48 3-pointers, connecting on just 11.
On the defensive end, Kidd will now have to scheme differently and learn how to defend space better, for the Warriors are a much better 3-point shooting team than the Suns.
