The first-round series between the Warriors and Kings has become appointment viewing.

Golden State's 126-125 victory over Sacramento on Sunday was the most-watched first-round game in more than two decades, according to ESPN's Ben Cafardo. The ABC broadcast of Game 4 had an average of 7.5 million viewers and peaked at 10.4 million viewers around 6 p.m. ET.

That peak time was no surprise considering the game came down to the final seconds.

The Warriors held a five-point lead with one minute left in regulation, but a late blunder by Stephen Curry opened the door for a Kings comeback. Curry called a timeout that Golden State didn't have, giving a technical free throw and possession of the ball to Sacramento. De'Aaron Fox then drained a 3-pointer, cutting the deficit to one point.

On the last possession of Game 4, former Warriors forward Harrison Barnes had a chance to sink his old team, but he missed a buzzer-beater from the left wing.

Warriors vs. Kings was the most-watched first-round game since a matchup between the Lakers and Trail Blazers in 2002. That Los Angeles team was a ratings juggernaut with huge names like Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal drawing in viewers.

After sweeping the Blazers in the best-of-five series, the Lakers went on to win their third consecutive championship that season.
