The Warriors are still waiting on the return of James Wiseman.

The No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Wiseman suffered a torn meniscus during his rookie season that required surgery. While he was initially expected to return for the 2021-22 season, he ended up being sidelined his entire sophomore campaign after undergoing another surgery in mid-December to relieve swelling in his knee.

On June 13, The Athletic's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater reported that Wiseman underwent an orthobiologic injection in April, adding that the Warriors were "optimistic" he could play in Summer League.

Now that Summer League is here, has Wiseman been cleared to play? Here's the latest on his status.

Is James Wiseman playing in NBA Summer League?

While Wiseman is on Golden State's roster for the California Classic, he won't suit up.

On June 29, The Athletic's Anthony Slater tweeted that Wiseman participated in Golden State's Summer League practice but has been ruled out for both of the team's games at the California Classic.

It sounds like the plan is for Wiseman to return at some point during the Las Vegas Summer League.

Wiseman appeared in 39 games in his rookie season with the Warriors. In 21.4 minutes per contest, he averaged 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks on 51.9 percent shooting from the field.
