Victor Wembanyama stats today: France's phenom turns in countless highlights in Olympics debut vs. Brazil image

Regardless of the uniform he's wearing, Victor Wembanyama is appointment viewing.

The Spurs phenom made his Olympic debut Saturday as he suited up for the host country for the 2024 Paris Games. Fueled by the home crowd's energy, Wembanyama did several things that only he is capable of while turning in a memorable performance.

France trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but it was Wembanyama's presence —and electrifying play — that allowed the team to swing things in their favor, ultimately advancing to 1-0 in group play with a 78-66 win over Brazil.

Here's more on the 20-year-old star's show-stopping performance to open his Olympic career.

Victor Wembanyama stats today

Wembanyama finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three blocks and two assists in 31 minutes of action. He shot 7-of-13 from the field

Two plays in particular were crucial as France swayed the momentum in its favor.

After a rough showing in the first quarter, Wembanyama & Co. began to string together plays to cut into the deficit. First, Wembanyama got a kind roll from the rim on a deep triple to cut further into the deficit.

The home crowd went wild, providing the energy France needed to continue its comeback trail.

As the half came to a close, Wembanyama delivered two poster dunks over the Brazil defense. His 7-4 height, spry athleticism and 8-foot wingspan allow him to make plays like this.

And this.

No one else can do what Wembanyama can and he somehow makes it look easy.
