Just like the USA women’s team, the USA men’s 3x3 basketball team will showcase its talents in Paris beginning Tuesday.
Amid the chaos of the Olympic Games, 3x3 basketball is a different brand of hoops that is offset from the traditional game. The rosters are comprised of names that long-time NBA fans will recognize, including Jimmer Fredette, who will be joined by Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis.
According to Fredette, the group has experienced growing pains after not qualifying for the Tokyo Games, serving as extra motivation to win a title together.
"I'd say it took us six to eight months to really gel together where, all of a sudden, we were clicking on all cylinders and felt like we were an actual unit and knew exactly what every player was going to do on the court," Fredette told NBC Sports.
The USA will face Serbia in the first pool play matchup from Paris and look to establish its overall momentum.
