USA vs. Germany final score, results: LeBron James' late takeover secures perfect Olympic exhibition record image

It was pushed to the limit, but Team USA closed its exhibition showcase with a perfect 5-0 record after earning a 92-88 win over Germany Monday.

The two teams went back and forth, as Germany outscored the Americans by 10 points in the third quarter to take a three-point lead into the final frame. It was in the fourth, however, that LeBron James took over to deliver Team USA with a win.

James did a little bit of everything for his team, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with six rebounds and four assists in 18 minutes of action.

4:53 p.m.: Buckle up.

Anthony Edwards splits a pair of free throws and Team USA trails by one point with 4:23 remaining in regulation.

This could be a photo finish.

4:46 p.m.: These teams are going back and forth in the fourth.

After an uncharacteristic free throw miss from Stephen Curry, things were tied up before an acrobatic and-one finish from Devin Booker put Team USA back ahead.

4:36 p.m.: After trailing by seven at halftime, Germany outscores Team USA 30-20 in the third to take a three-point lead into the final frame.

It's been a full team effort from Germany, which has benefitted from the playmaking of Dennis Schröder, the shot-making of Andreas Obst, the Wagner brothers relentlessness and Daniel Theis' interior presence.

Team USA's back is against the wall for the second consecutive game. Do they have more heroics up their sleeves?

4:25 p.m.: After Germany regained the lead, Team USA responded with a quick 8-0 spring in 48 seconds.

The Americans are back up by seven points with 5:37 left in the third.

4:19 p.m.: A strong showing out of the halftime break from Germany has sliced the deficit to two points.

After it appeared the Americans would pull away, Germany has responded to keep things within single digits during the second.

Moritz Wagner was on the receiving end of an elbow from Anthony Davis. Officials have headed to the monitor to check up on the foul.

It's been a balanced attack from the Americans, who are led by eight points from Jrue Holiday while Anthony Davis has scored five points in four minutes of action.

For Germany, Dennis Schröder scored six points early on while Franz Wagner's got four points on 2-of-6 shooting.

Team USA finishes the first quarter shooting 58.8% from the field while holding Germany to 30.4% shooting.

3:23 p.m.: An and-one from Anthony Davis makes it a 15-2 run for the Americans, who lead by eight points.

Under 1:30 remains in the first quarter.

It's been all about Jrue Holiday early on. He's got a game-high eight points on perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the field.

The Nets guard has six points early on after draining two triples. Germany's got a five-point lead.

When do the Olympics start?

The opening ceremony at the 2024 Olympics is July 26. The men's basketball tournament tips off the next day on July 27 and ends with the medal games on Aug. 10.

Team USA is one of 12 teams to qualify for the Paris Olympics. It will play in Group C with Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico.
