Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry will keep oft-injured Tyreke Evans out of the lineup until after the All-Star break, the team announced Saturday

Evans, who has been dealing with right knee tendonitis and missed several games over the last month, will miss four more games before All-Star weekend.

“We’re probably going to hold him out until after the All-Star break. That gives him a situation where he has almost two weeks where he can rehab it and hopefully get it back,” Alvin Gentry said. "Hopefully he’ll be ready to go right after the All-Star break and we’ll be able to play him for the rest of the stretch (of the schedule)."

Evans is currently averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game this season.

“I think he’s better, but he’s not to the point where we feel like he can go and do it 100 percent," Gentry said. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it. We’re trying to be cautious about it."
