The NBA announced the finalists for its key awards Wednesday, and it unintentionally created the most awkward moment of the season.
Dwane Casey is in the running for Coach of the Year after leading the Raptors to the most successful regular season (59 wins) in franchise history.
That regular-season success wasn't enough for Casey to keep his job, though, and he was fired after seven years on the job. Raptors president Masai Ujiri opted to send Casey packing largely because of the Raptors' humiliating second-round sweep at the hands of the Cavaliers.

Nonetheless, those famous Canadian manners compelled the Raptors' social media team to salute Casey for his nomination:

A lovely gesture from the Raptors, but it feels a little strange when Casey was told to pack his bags just five days earlier.
Casey's tenure in Toronto ended with a 320-230 record (.573 winning percentage) and his Raptors reaching the playoffs five consecutive times.
