Patrick Mahomes vs. Tom Brady hype videos: Mavericks, Celtics pit star QBs against each other for NBA Finals image

The Celtics and Mavericks are set to face off in the 2024 NBA Finals and their social teams are already stirring the pot with each other's fanbase.

Whether it was intentional or not, Boston and Dallas brought the NFL's GOAT quarterback debate to the forefront of the NBA championship round with their respective hype videos.

The day before Game 1 of the Finals, the Celtics released their hype video on social media. Playing into Boston's fanbase, they got Patriots legend Tom Brady to narrate the highlight reel.

On the day of Game 1 of the Finals, the Mavericks posted their hype video on social media. It's more likely to be a coincidence than a counter, but Dallas had its video narrated by Texas native and Chiefs legend Patrick Mahomes.

You can find both hype videos below.

Tom Brady Celtics NBA Finals hype video, explained

"We want Boston," has been a reoccurring chant among the fanbases who were next in line to face the Celtics in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

The Heat, Cavaliers and Pacers fans all had that in common. Even the Knicks, who didn't reach the Eastern Conference Finals stage to face Boston, made the same claim.

That was Brady's motivation in the Celtics' 2024 NBA Finals hype video.

"Really? You want Boston? Take it from me. That's a bad idea," Brady says to open the video.

Brady threw a few jabs at each team the Celtics eliminated on the path to the Finals before concluding the video with, "Right now, you're going to want anyone but Boston."

Patrick Mahomes Mavericks NBA Finals hype video, explained

Coincidentally, the next day, Dallas posted their hype video narrated by Mahomes, a known Mavericks fan.

"The Finals. There's only one thing in the way now, and it's not the opponent. It's the willingness to sacrifice everything because the greatest competition is you," Mahomes says.

"... Nobody expected the Mavs. Nobody wanted the Mavs. But nobody can deny that you've earned it. Earned the respect of the league. Earned a place at the table. And earned the opportunity to bring Larry back to Dallas," he continued over a video of Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki raising the Larry O'Brien trophy.

The Mahomes counter to Brady was just enough to get Boston fans angry — a likely unintentional, yet genius, play by Dallas' social team.

The Brady-Mahomes GOAT debate picked up once Mahomes won his second consecutive (and third total) Super Bowl in February. The conversation irks Patriots fans, who will not be convinced anyone belongs in the same conversation as Brady just yet.

As if the NBA Finals needed more fuel to the fire, the Mavericks and Celtics social teams brought some added heat ahead of Game 1.
