Pistons assistant coach Tim Hardaway is suspended for the first three games of the upcoming NBA season, the league announced Friday.
The league handed down the suspension on Hardaway "for pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated with an excessive blood alcohol level, in violation of the law of the State of Michigan."

In late September, Hardaway was sentenced to 18 months probation and 10 days of community service after his April arrest on a charge of drunken driving. He was pulled over for speeding, and he had a blood-alcohol content level of .17.
"It's an unfortunate situation that Tim feels very badly about," Pistons president and coach Stan Van Gundy said in September. "But it's one time. As soon as it happened — the initial thing, in April — I talked to (team owner) Tom (Gores) as I always do on things and we talked it through. We move on."
Hardaway is a former NBA player and has been on the Pistons coaching staff since 2014.
