After failing to medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the United States Men's National Basketball Team is looking to assemble an All-Star squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA has captured gold at four consecutive Olympic Games and looks to continue its recent string of Olympic dominance, though the rest of the world will present quite the challenge. With a fifth consecutive gold medal in play, the United States national team could enlist some of the biggest names in the game.
Basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics doesn't begin until July 27 but Team USA has already narrowed things down to a list of 41 finalists to make the 12-man roster. Of that 41, there are a few players that are reportedly viewed as locks to head to Paris, barring injury.
Who will represent Team USA in 2024? Here is what we know about the roster so far.

Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has a "deep desire" to represent the United States in the Paris Olympics, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Irving helped Team USA win a gold medal in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He was then part of the team that won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
In 33 career games with the U.S. national team, Irving is averaging 11.8 points on .530/.438/.896 shooting splits.

USA Basketball has keyed in on seven players to make up the core of its Olympic team barring injury, according to a sourced report from The Athletic.
Here is a look at the seven players identified by The Athletic:
Position | Player | Team |
G | Devin Booker | Suns |
G | Stephen Curry | Warriors |
F | Kevin Durant | Suns |
C | Joel Embiid | 76ers |
G | Jrue Holiday | Celtics |
F | LeBron James | Lakers |
F | Jayson Tatum | Celtics |
The group is headlined by two-time gold medalist LeBron James and three-time gold medalist Kevin Durant. It would be the fourth Olympic appearance for both James (2004, 2008, 2012) and Durant (2012, 2016, 2020).
Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum were each key members of the team that led Team USA to Olympic gold in Japan while this would be the Olympic debuts of Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid, the latter of whom recently decided to compete for the United States after becoming a U.S. citizen in September 2022.
Should this group of seven hold, USA Men's National Team managing director Grant Hill will select five more players from a pool of the remaining 34 finalists.
