The Warriors will start their title defense without the man who led them there.
Steve Kerr will not coach in his team’s season opener against the Pelicans, GM Bob Myers said Saturday.

Kerr, who is recovering from multiple offseason back surgeries, will likely miss the team’s ensuing two-game road trip as well, according to USA Today.
Assistant Luke Walton will continue to lead the team as he has since Kerr first took a leave of absence earlier this month. The Warriors finished 3-4 in the preseason without him.
