Former NBA guard Steve Francis, the No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, faces multiple charges, including a felony, after he was arrested Saturday night in Houston, KHOU.com reported.
Francis, 39, has been charged with felony retaliation for allegedly threatening a police officer after being stopped for speeding, according to The Associated Press. He also faces a misdemeanor DWI charge, as well as a charge for possession of marijuana.

According to TMZ Sports, Francis was "verbally abusive" to an officer and threatened to get revenge for being arrested. More cops were called to the scene because of Francis’ behavior, the report said. Francis refused a field sobriety test, and cops detected the smell of weed in the vehicle he was driving, a black 2017 Chevy Tahoe.
He was released on $5,500 bond and is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.
As a member of the Rockets, Francis was an NBA All-Star in 2002, 2003 and 2004, but his career began trending downward when he was traded to the Magic after the 2003-04 season. He last played pro basketball in China in 2010 but was cut by the Beijing Ducks after just four games.
