Curry has been battling knee issues since falling during Game 4 of the Warriors series against the Rockets. He missed the rest of the series and part of the second playoff round against the Trail Blazers.

"After a great deal of internal thought and several discussions with my family, I've elected to withdraw my name from the list of eligible players on Team USA's preliminary roster for the 2016 Summer Games in Brazil," Curry said in a statement. "My previous experiences with USA Basketball have been extremely rewarding, educational and enjoyable, which made this an extremely difficult decision for me and my family. However, due to several factors — including recent ankle and knee injuries — I believe this is not the best decision for me at this stage of my career. It's an incredible honor to represent your country and wear 'USA' on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season."

Andre Iguodala is also considering opting out of the Olympics over concerns of the Zika virus, the Mercury News reported. Iguodala was on the 2012 team which won gold in London.

The report said players have been advised not to bring their families to Brazil because of the Zika virus, which could also be a factor in why players are hesitant to commit.

Draymond Green reportedly is willing to play if he is invited, despite the health risks.
